The Tampa Bay Rays avoided elimination in the World Series on Tuesday night, forcing a decisive fifth game with a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. The win came after twelve dramatic innings at Tropicana Field, capping a defensive struggle that left the series tied at 3-1.

The game remained tight through the first eleven frames, with both teams managing only five total hits before the bottom of the twelfth. Cooper Pratt, a Milwaukee rookie, hit a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning. That shot put the Brewers three outs away from their first World Series championship in franchise history.

Tampa Bay answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. An errant throw by shortstop Joey Ortiz set the stage for a four-hit rally. Jonny DeLuca drove in the tying run, and pinch hitter Ben Williamson secured the win with a bunt that beat first baseman Jake Bauers.

This marks the first time since David Freese and the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011 that a team has avoided World Series elimination with a walk-off victory. The Rays are also only the fifth Major League Baseball team to force a Game 5 after falling behind 3-0 in the series.

Milwaukee reliever Aaron Ashby pitched three perfect innings, extending his postseason streak to 18 consecutive scoreless frames. Despite his performance, the Brewers bullpen failed to hold the lead in the 12th inning. The loss also snapped an eight-game winning streak for Milwaukee.

Tampa Bay relied on six relievers to pitch eight innings, allowing just one run. Nick Martinez and Bryan Baker each contributed two key innings to stabilize the pitching staff. The Rays had struggled offensively earlier in the game, recording only five hits before the final inning explosion.

Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at Tropicana Field. The Rays will attempt to complete their historic comeback, while the Brewers aim to secure the championship and end their season with a title.
