Kicker Tucker Signs With Chiefs Practice Squad
The Ravens' all-time leading scorer joins Kansas City as insurance for Harrison Butker after a 17-month absence.

Justin Tucker, the Baltimore Ravens' all-time leading scorer, has agreed to join the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad. The signing was confirmed by NFL Network and ESPN on Wednesday. This move places the 37-year-old kicker in a support role for Kansas City's primary kicker, Harrison Butker.
Tucker is not taking a spot on the active roster. Under league rules, a team can elevate a practice squad player for games only a limited number of times before requiring a full roster contract. His presence in Kansas City serves as a contingency plan while Butker works through a slump in accuracy.
Butker has made 11 of his 16 field goal attempts this season, a 68.8% rate. He has missed four kicks from 50 yards or longer, one from 45 yards, and one extra point. Two of those misses occurred during Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs have not released Butker, and contract terms for Tucker were not disclosed.
Tucker's time away from the NFL spans 17 months. The Ravens released him on May 5, 2025. On June 26, 2025, the league suspended him for 10 games without pay for violating its personal conduct policy. The suspension followed an investigation by The Baltimore Banner, which reported that 16 massage therapists from eight businesses accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior between 2012 and 2016. Tucker denied the allegations in a statement released on January 30, 2025, calling them unequivocally false. He did not appeal the suspension and missed the entire 2025 season.
During his 13 seasons in Baltimore, Tucker made 417 of 468 field goals for 1,775 points. His 2024 season was his least accurate, with a 73.3% success rate. He won a Super Bowl as a rookie, made seven Pro Bowls, and was named first-team All-Pro five times. His 66-yard field goal in Detroit remained the NFL record until Cam Little kicked a 68-yarder in November 2025.
Tucker will not face the Ravens during the regular season. Baltimore is not on Kansas City's 2026 schedule. The Chiefs play at Denver on Sunday, Nov. 1, and host the New York Jets on Nov. 8. Tucker worked out for the Jets earlier this season. The Ravens drafted Tyler Loop in the sixth round of the 2025 draft to replace Tucker.
Tucker turns 37 on Nov. 21. The Chiefs' performance in the coming weeks will determine if he is elevated to the game-day roster. His return to the league will be closely watched in Baltimore, where the allegations against him first emerged.
