Trump Sets 4-Day Deadline for Joint Iran Action Before Israel Vote
The president warned that the United States will assume sole responsibility for operations against Iran if Israeli voters do not elect Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that the United States will take over the mission against Iran if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu loses the upcoming election.
The timeline of these events began earlier on Sunday when reports indicated Netanyahu was actively seeking new public endorsements from Washington. Two American sources told The Jerusalem Post that Netanyahu and his allies in the administration’s inner circle were increasing pressure for a fresh statement of support. One source described the prime minister’s behavior, saying, "We have never seen Netanyahu like this before. He is showing signs of political desperation." Axios reported that the two leaders spoke twice in the previous three days. During those conversations, Netanyahu suggested specific wording for the endorsements and proposed that Trump speak with Israeli journalists to reiterate his backing.
Trump responded to these efforts with a post on Truth Social on Sunday evening. He praised Netanyahu’s record, calling him an "outstanding Warrior Prime Minister." The president cited Operation Midnight Hammer and Operation Epic Fury as examples of their shared success. He concluded the message by urging voters to support Netanyahu, writing, "we have to finish the job that we started!"
The post included a specific warning regarding the consequences of a different outcome. Trump wrote that if Israel chooses a leader other than Netanyahu, America would have to handle the confrontation with Iran alone. He added, "I'm not inclined to do that." The Jerusalem Post noted that this remark referred directly to the ongoing tensions with Iran.
Israeli voters will go to the polls on Monday, October 27. The election takes place just days after Trump’s second endorsement of the incumbent prime minister. The president’s statement links the domestic Israeli vote directly to the operational strategy for the region’s security challenges.
The White House has not yet scheduled a formal press briefing to address the specific operational details of the potential shift in U.S. responsibility. The next major diplomatic contact between the two leaders is expected to occur immediately following the announcement of the election results.
