Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles identified culture problems, not execution, as the primary source of the team's current struggles.

Foles made the assessment on Tuesday during an episode of his podcast, The SZN with Nick Foles & Evan Moore, and on NBC Sports Philadelphia. He noted that the Eagles dropped a 38-21 decision to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. The defeat marked the franchise's fifth consecutive loss.

Foles stated he anticipated trouble after the Eagles released veteran Jeff Stoutland following the previous season. He described a shift in the organizational environment that has persisted for two decades in the city. He cited specific behaviors on the field, such as offensive linemen failing to help teammates up after being knocked down, as evidence of this decline.

The former Super Bowl LII winner compared the current atmosphere to Andy Reid's final year with the club. He noted that veteran leaders are attempting to maintain stability while the defense shows signs of fatigue. Foles pointed to coach Nick Sirianni's demeanor on the sidelines as a visible indicator of the team's internal state.

Foles argued that the 2017 squad survived similar injury issues because of veteran coaching staff on both sides of the ball. That depth is absent now, with Sean Mannion serving as a first-year offensive coordinator. Foles suggested the current situation requires more than just acquiring a few players to correct the course.

Evan Moore, Foles' co-host, warned against confusing desperation with opportunity as the trade deadline approaches. He emphasized the need for the front office to determine if the team is a few pieces away or requires a deeper overhaul. The Eagles face the Washington Commanders at 8:20 p.m. Sunday on NBC10, followed by the New York Giants at 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 on Fox29.

Foles concluded that the backup quarterback, Tanner McKee, is playing within the system but needs special performances to compensate for missing pieces. He stated that the team is currently an offensive scheme away from success.
