Lamar Jackson will miss the rest of the season. His thumb is broken. The injury happened on the first play. He will have surgery. Coach Jesse Minter said the Ravens will put him on injured reserve.
The Bills won the game 36-10 on Sunday in Orchard Park. Josh Allen threw two touchdown passes. He also scored on a run. The team had a bad first half. They scored only a touchdown and three field goals before the break. The second half was different. They scored touchdowns on three of their first four drives.
The defense stopped the Ravens. They forced three turnovers. They added four sacks. They held Baltimore to 144 total yards. The team had allowed 29 or more points in five of its last six games before this one. This result changed that streak.
Tyler Huntley stepped in as the backup. He hurt his toe on a sack. He lost a fumble on that same play. It was the end of Baltimore's fourth series. The injury leaves the Ravens without their first two quarterbacks. It is not clear if he can play on a short week.
Joe Fagnano took the field. He is an undrafted rookie from Connecticut. He finished the game. He went 10 of 21 for 91 yards. He threw one interception. This was his first game in the NFL. He came in as the emergency third-string option.
Derrick Henry scored the only touchdown for Baltimore. It was a 2-yard run. The score tied him with Marshall Faulk for fourth all-time in career rushing touchdowns from scrimmage. The play was valid. A holding penalty had earlier wiped out another score for him.
Buffalo's Tyler Bass kicked three field goals. All three were good. One went 56 yards. He has now hit 21 straight attempts. That broke a franchise record of 18 set by Rian Lindell in 2007. Bass missed all of last season with pelvis and groin injuries.
The game had five total turnovers. Three belonged to Baltimore. Tyler Loop missed a 34-yard field goal. The Bills were flagged 10 times for 87 yards. Josh Palmer left the game with a hamstring injury. He pulled up on a deep route in the first quarter.
The Ravens host Jacksonville on Thursday night. The Bills travel to Minnesota for a Monday Night Football game on Nov. 9. The Bills lead the AFC East. They have won nine straight coming out of a bye week.
