The Philadelphia Eagles dropped their fifth consecutive game on Monday night, falling 38-21 to the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field. The loss pushes the Eagles to a 2-5 record and marks their first losing streak of this magnitude since 2016. The team had not lost five straight games since the 2016 season, when Doug Pederson served as head coach.

The defensive unit allowed 416 total yards to the Cowboys. The Cowboys rushed for 204 yards, giving up a 5.4 yards per carry average. These numbers represent the second-most rushing yards the Eagles have allowed during Vic Fangio’s three seasons as defensive coordinator. It is also the most rushing yards allowed to the Cowboys since 1993. The defense yielded 25 first downs and three touchdown passes from Dak Prescott.

Tanner McKee started at quarterback for the second consecutive week, the first time in his career he has done so. He completed 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown. He also threw one interception late in the game. McKee led a 17-play, 84-yard drive in the third quarter that ended with a touchdown pass to Makai Lemon. Lemon recorded career highs with seven catches for 67 yards, including his first career touchdown.

Saquon Barkley returned to the field after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. He scored a touchdown on the Eagles' first drive of the game. Barkley finished with 62 yards on seven carries. Britain Covey was ruled out after the first quarter with a knee injury. Landon Dickerson played in his first game since opening day, returning from a five-week absence due to a bone bruise.

The Eagles allowed the Cowboys to score on eight of their nine drives. The Cowboys were stopped only twice during the contest. The Eagles have recorded just three takeaways and eight sacks in their first seven games. They are currently 26th in total yards allowed and 21st in rush defense. The team will visit the Washington Commanders on Sunday night in Week 8.
