Miyu Yamashita defended her title at the LPGA Tour’s Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She defeated China’s Yan Liu by two strokes on Sunday. The final score was 22-under 266.

Yamashita, 25, shot a 68 in the final round. She recorded five birdies and one bogey. The only mistake occurred on the par-4 ninth hole. She led the tournament from the second round through the final hole.

This victory marks her fifth career title. It is her second win on the LPGA Tour this season. She previously won the CPKC Women’s Open in August. That victory in Edmonton, Alberta, was a wire-to-wire win by nine strokes.

Yan Liu shot a 63 on Saturday to move into contention. She also shot a 68 on Sunday. Liu finished at 18-under 268. She stayed in touch with the leader but could not close the gap.

Pauline Roussin-Bouchard shot 69 on Sunday. She was tied for third with Thailand’s amateur player Marisa Tojai, who shot 67. Roussin-Bouchard had led after the first round. Australia’s Robyn Choi finished fifth at 17-under 271 after shooting 69.

Yamashita won the 2025 Malaysian tournament after a three-way playoff. The LPGA Tour’s late-season Asian swing continues next week. The next event is the Toto Japan Classic at Omitama outside Tokyo.
