U2 has scheduled a private concert in central London for Tuesday, November 3. The Irish rock group will reunite for an exclusive performance organized by the BBC. The show will take place at an undisclosed venue. The band plans to play a mix of classic hits and tracks from their upcoming studio album, Carnaval De Luz. That new record is set for release on November 13.
The announcement came after fans expressed strong interest in seeing the band headline Glastonbury 2027. In a recent poll, U2 received 387 votes from 3,003 participants. This placed them in second position behind Oasis, which garnered 400 votes. The results suggest that public demand for a return to Worthy Farm remains high. U2 last performed as the headliner at the Somerset festival in 2011. A return in 2027 would mark a 16 year gap between their top bill appearances.
The timing of the BBC special has fueled speculation among music fans. Although the concert is not an official Glastonbury booking, it signals renewed activity from the group. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. will take the stage for the broadcast. Jo Whiley revealed the plans on BBC Radio 2 on Tuesday evening. She noted that the band gives full effort to every performance. She expressed anticipation for sharing the concert with listeners.
Tickets for the London show are available through a limited BBC Audiences ballot. The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 29, at 11.59 pm. The specific location of the venue will remain hidden until the day of the show. Successful applicants will receive details about the location before the performance begins. Those who do not secure a spot can still watch or listen to the event. BBC Two will air the concert in late November as part of a special evening dedicated to the group. The live radio broadcast will air on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds on Monday, November 30, between 7 pm and 9 pm. The radio segment will also include a new interview with the musicians.
The band will also participate in a feature with Vernon Kay called Tracks of My Years. They will select ten songs that have shaped their careers. This content will be available on BBC Sounds and iPlayer starting November 15. U2 has won 22 Grammy Awards and continues to tour and release music. Their return to the stage provides a concrete example of their ongoing relevance. This activity stands in contrast to other acts that remain subjects of annual rumor cycles without recent public appearances.
Festival organizer Emily Eavis has confirmed that all three headliners for Glastonbury 2027 are already booked. The identities of these acts remain secret. Tickets for the 2027 festival sold out in 42 minutes. Many attendees have purchased passes without knowing who will top the bill. The U2 announcement does not confirm a place on the Pyramid Stage. It does, however, demonstrate that the band is currently active and preparing for a busy period of releases and live shows.
