Jason Kelce stood in Lot H of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex on Monday. He waited for Lindsey Carl to walk down a green aisle. She wore a white gown from BHLDN and sequined Eagles boots. Her groom, Brandon Byrd, wore a dark green tweed suit. The Philly Pops played 'Fly, Eagles Fly' as the couple met at the front.
The wedding took place hours before the Eagles faced the Cowboys. It was the winner of a contest sponsored by Garage Beer and Steven Singer Jewelers. About 300 couples applied to the competition. The judges narrowed the list to 10 finalists. James Booth, of Garage Beer, said the couple’s last name gave them an edge. He noted that becoming the Byrds fit the theme perfectly.
Carl and Byrd live in Chicago. They met in a sports bar there. Both are Eagles fans. They drove to Philadelphia for the event. The ceremony included a custom beer shawl and a release of doves. The crowd chanted the team name as the couple shared a beer bong.
Shane Victorino acted as the officiant. Beau Allen helped with the ceremony duties. The couple exchanged rings from Steven Singer. The rings came in boxes shaped like Garage beer cans. The reception featured a mobile grill from Cav's and food from Kingsford. Philly Pretzel Factory provided pretzels shaped like engagement rings. Nothing Bundt Cakes supplied a display of cakes and mini Bundtinis.
Garage Beer receives about 10 wedding invitations from fans each week. The company started by selling kits with beer bongs and cake toppers. The idea grew into hosting a full event. The team had five weeks to prepare. TrueFan Travel set up the tailgate area. Hollis Thomas provided DJ services for the reception. The altar was built by staff using a Wayfair arch and beer cases.
The couple received a honeymoon stay at Ocean Casino Resort. They also got a $5,000 gift card for a trip. Booth said the brand wants to see if the model works again. He added that he hopes it does not become an annual requirement.
