Miss Cherry Delight is merging a personal milestone with a major artistic release as she prepares to turn 40 on Nov. 4. The shock rock musician will launch her second album, Advice For Ashes, with a large-scale production at House of Yes in Brooklyn. The event coincides with the anniversary of her birth on Nov. 4, 1986.
The 14-track record took seven years to complete. Delight collaborated with Vision Video, Nite, Ashley Bad, and Marieke Bresseleers on the project. She dedicated the album title to Frankie Maddox Rex, the late lead singer of The FMs, who passed away in 2022. Delight described the release as a way to enter her new decade by bringing the work into the world.
The performance will feature the album played in its entirety by Delight and her band. The group includes Justin Ethan Mathews, Mike Forzano, Cinque Ubangi Kemp, and Michael Butterly. The tracklist covers specific local themes, including a song about protecting Coney Island. It also includes true crime tales connected to the Hello Kitty murder case and a tribute to burlesque star Pearls Daily.
Guest vocalists will join the main set for the evening. Laura Lee Anderson, a member of the Broadway cast of Masquerade, and John Wlaysewski, lead singer of Late Cambrian, are scheduled to perform. The show will also debut music videos directed by Dylan Mars Greenberg and Adam Ninyo.
The event is structured as a theatrical experience with additional live acts. Sideshow and burlesque performers will include Kita St Cyr, Gin Minsky, Echo Thorn, Pearls Daily, Anna Monoxide, Faux Pas Le Fae, Aurora North, and Chris McDaniel. Musical sideshows from Monsterwh_re and Starfox And The Fleet will also appear. Poxxa Ponnyou will emcee the night.
Delight stated that this is the largest production she has undertaken. She noted that the show combines elements of her previous Cherry Hellodies performance with the new original songs. Doors for the 21-plus event open at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 4, with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets start at $30, and VIP options are available for purchase online.
House of Yes is located at 2 Wyckoff Ave. in Brooklyn.
