Deborah Freedman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, won the latest Sunday Puzzle challenge on WYPR. The station airs a weekly on-air contest where listeners solve word riddles to win prizes.
The current puzzle set focuses on two-word names for locations across the United States. Participants must identify cities, states, rivers, or mountains based on specific clues. The first letters of the clue words correspond to the first letters of the correct answers.
One example provided in the broadcast is Northeast Haven, which points to Fort Lauderdale. Other clues in this set include Pioneers' Pinnacle, Storied Fire, and Dry (very!). A third clue, Oil Capital, also fits the two-word place name format.
The puzzle includes one three-word answer. That specific clue is Minnesota's Sizable Population. The remaining items in the list, such as Port Honolulu and Engineered Channel, follow the standard two-word rule.
The current challenge asks listeners to combine a three-letter body part with a four-letter body part. The result is a brand name commonly found in supermarkets. Participants have until Thursday, November 5, at 3 p.m. ET to submit their answers.
Listeners who submit correct answers by the deadline enter a drawing to play the puzzle on air. The station requires entrants to list a phone number for contact. Last week's winner was determined by a challenge involving company logos with specific capitalization rules.
