Cadillac's electric Escalade IQ weighs 9,046 pounds, placing it in the Class 3 truck category.

General Motors developed the vehicle during a period of higher optimism for electric vehicles. The brand now plans a mix of electric and combustion models through 2030. The Escalade shares its battery pack and other components with the Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV, and Hummer EV. Cadillac aims to show that replacing a V8 engine with two electric motors does not reduce the vehicle's capability.

The press car arrived with an indicated range of 440 miles. Staff requested at least 125 miles of range remain upon pickup. The vehicle contains more than 200 kilowatt hours of lithium-ion battery storage between its axles. This capacity allows the SUV to operate for a full week of work without requiring a recharge.

The vehicle is large enough to fit in a standard parking space but heavy enough to require flat side mirrors. Cadillac states the model achieves 460 miles on the EPA test cycle. There is no formal EPA range rating due to the vehicle's weight class. The SUV includes multiple airbags despite the weight not legally requiring them.

The electric model weighs one-third more than the final gas-powered version tested by reviewers. The curb weight of 4,103 kilograms contributes to the vehicle's classification as a truck rather than a standard SUV. This weight profile aligns with the other full-size electric vehicles in GM's lineup.
